William Mortensen Vaughan, a.k.a. "Willie," is a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant, who served with the Tenth Mountain Light Infantry Division, in Afghanistan and Iraq, during Operations Enduring Freedom VII and Iraqi Freedom VI.

Christmas was always a special time of year for Willie. His father, William Knowlton Vaughan, recited How the Grinch Stole Christmas! for him by rote, when Willie was a toddler, before passing away August 30, 1966, approximately three and a half months before the animated Boris Karloff adaptation was released, on December 18, 1966.

While serving in Afghanistan in the winter of 2006 and '07, Willie went to a theatrical rendition of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, performed by fellow Service Members, at the Base Chapel on Bagram Airfield. He enjoyed this rendition, and it reminded him of the adaptations, such as Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962), which was released two months after he was born, and which he watched, with his mother, on television, year after year, as a child.

The theatrical performance of A Christmas Carol at Bagram Airfield impressed Willie so much that he started collecting copies of Christmas Carol adaptations on DVD and VHS, especially while serving in Iraq in the winter of 2008 and '09. He soon owned copies of approximately five dozen adaptations.

By March 6, 2017, Willie bought the rights to the URL AChristmasCarol.US, and began creating and publishing the content found on this website.
